It's fall time in Madison! At Hickory Hill Academy in Madison, we love connecting classroom learning with the world around us. As the seasons change, there are so many opportunities for our students to see, touch, and experience science in action. And right now—it’s apple season, one of the best parts of fall in Wisconsin!

In STEM this week, our kindergarten students had a sweet (and crunchy!) lesson by taste-testing different varieties of apples. This hands-on activity wasn’t just fun—it gave them a chance to explore science with all their senses.
Students compared flavors and textures, then connected what they learned to how seeds grow and where fruit comes from. Many even shared stories about family apple-picking adventures, blending classroom lessons with real-world experiences.
These kinds of activities show the beauty of kindergarten and elementary learning at HHA—where curiosity, discovery, and joy come together every day. Our teachers create experiences that are both meaningful and memorable, helping students see that science is all around them, especially during the fall season.

We’d love to welcome you to our beautiful campus on the west side of Madison. At Hickory Hill Academy, little ones begin their journey in our nurturing toddler and infant programs, exploring and learning through play.
From there, children grow through preschool and prekindergarten (4K), dive into hands-on discovery in kindergarten, and continue to flourish all the way through elementary and middle school (up to 8th grade).
Inquire today to come tour our campus, meet our caring teachers, and see firsthand how we make learning come alive at every stage of childhood.
