MISS EMILY

FIRST, THIRD & FOURTH GRADE

Miss Emily grew up a few blocks from HHA on the west side of Madison. She decided to become a teacher on the side of a mountain in Jamaica while on a volunteer trip. There she was given the choice to either work in an Elementary School or Health Clinic and once she made her choice, she never looked back. Miss Emily graduated from Edgewood College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her education provided her with opportunities in many different classrooms around Madison and the surrounding rea. She has worked with students in kindergarten through 4th grade. Miss Emily is ESL certified and has experiences working with students from many backgrounds. She has been been at HHA for two years, and currently supports literacy learning in 1st and 2nd grade. Her absolute favorite part of teaching is building relationships with students and witnessing their lightbulb moments.

In the classroom, Miss Emily believes in fostering an inclusive community in which students feel that their contributions and perspectives are equally valued and respected. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and families within the HHA school community. You can find her classroom filled with prompts and affirmations that she will often encourage her students to say out loud to remind themselves of everything they are capable of.

In her free time, Miss Emily enjoys creating acrylic and watercolor paintings, reading, caring for her many houseplants, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her daughter and loved ones.
