Little Hands, Big Hearts at HHA

In a world that could use more help all the way around, our 4K students in the Wind In the Willow class, have taken a great interest in the people that serve in Madison and the

surrounding communities of Fitchburg, Middleton, Verona, Monona, and beyond.

Meet Wind In The Willows' Lead Teacher, Miss Xiomaria!

She has an incredible gift of recognizing when her students are engaging in a topic and taking them into a deeper academic experience full of fun, hands-on learning! Keep reading to see how Miss Xiomaria and her teaching team brought their theme of "Community Helpers" to life!

"This week in class, we learned about community helpers! We discussed different jobs, and helpers in our community. Our class practiced their writing skills and wrote about ways that they can help their community at home and at school! We discussed firefighters and used frozen paint to put out imaginary fires during art.

This week we also talked about being good citizens of our community. We discussed ways that we can take care of our communities at home and at school. So many students resonated with this, and we saw some great friendship skills as so many students who went out of their way to help each other this week!" - Miss Xiomaria

Having kids like these at our school puts Hickory Hill Academy on the map as one of the best schools in Wisconsin! Thank you to our teaching teams and HHA families for making our school what it is!

As November starts off, our school is excited to put our vision of Cultivating Compassionate Leaders into practice! All HHA students and families are able to participate by giving to the NBC15 Share Your Holidays Food Drive!

This campaign is the largest fund and food drive in southwestern Wisconsin, and we are so thankful to partner with our local community and host barrels for specific food donations. As this food drive continues through the next couple of weeks, we are excited to see the barrels fill and see the students experience first hand what it means to serve our community!
