CORGIVILLE FAIR NURSERY
Corgiville Fair Nursery is located in the lower level of The Dahlhouse and nurtures the youngest learners at Kids Express Learning Center. Up to eight children, six weeks to a year old, attend the nursery each day. Two teachers are devoted to the children's care, with a third teacher sharing time between the nursery and the adjoining toddler room.
The children enjoy daily stroller rides around the eight-acre campus, time on the Infant/Toddler playground, and plenty of floor time and cuddle time with their teachers. When weather restricts outdoor activities, the children enjoy a change of venue in Little Engine That Could; our smaller of two gyms, where the children have extra space for playing with large toys. Twice weekly, the children enjoy attending our Bucky Beats percussion music class.
Parents and teachers work together to develop individual sleeping, eating, and playtime plans for each baby, and teachers inform parents of the child's daily experiences, including nap, feeding, and diapering details. The nursery environment is rich with milestone moments, abundant enthusiasm, and genuine affection.
MISS LAURA
PROGRAM & EVENTS COORDINATOR
Miss Laura is returning to the world of education as our Program and Event Coordinator at Hickory Hills Academy. She had taken a hiatus from public education to co-found and manage a successful chiropractic business in Fitchburg these last four years. Laura graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education and started her teaching career in McFarland at Indian Mound Middle School. Shortly thereafter, she began working on and completed her M.S. degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math and Science. After two years of teaching middle school, she decided to take an opportunity in Stoughton to work with elementary-aged students. This is where she made her home and spent the remainder of her 20 years in education.
For all of those years, Miss Laura was very involved with her school, district, and community. In her school she was a team leader, mentor for new teachers, coordinator of clubs for kids; such as student council, school store, TERRA recycling club, and kid’s club. She served as a building representative for multiple district committees throughout her career. Her dedication and love for teaching children was noticed by many as she was nominated and won for her district the prestigious Kohl Teacher of the Year Award.
Miss Laura spent 10 years as the chair of her school’s parent group with a very unique perspective of being a teacher in the school and a parent of children who attended the school. She coordinated a variety of evening family events, raised funds for playground equipment and technology, and facilitated monthly meetings. She also volunteered her time as a Sunday school teacher and Brownie Leader. Since 1996 she has volunteered for the annual Lil’ Syttende Mai run in Stoughton and in 2018 she accepted the position as the coordinator of this family event.
Miss Laura’s favorite times of the year are summer and fall. You can find her outside walking her chihuahuas, playing tennis, kayaking, reading a book, going for a hike or simply taking in the sun! Laura loves spending time doing just about anything with her two adult children and amazing family of friends!
